The Lasky Production is a family-owned and operated enterprise, run by several generations of the Lasky lineage, who are heirs to a storied tradition of television and film production, encompassing directors, writers, and actors that trace back to Hollywood's formative years in silent film and vaudeville. The original company was founded by Jesse L. Lasky in 1913 under the name Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Co. Jesse's initial foray into the motion picture industry began with the rental of a barn, which served as his first studio and is now celebrated as the birthplace of Paramount Pictures. This iconic barn was situated at the intersection of Vine and Selma in Hollywood. In 1914, Jesse L. Lasky produced Hollywood's first feature-length film, "The Squaw Man." His company evolved into the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, which is known today as Paramount Pictures.
The revival of Lasky Productions occurred in 1985, spearheaded by the younger members of the Lasky family, who inherited their predecessors' passion for the film industry. This revitalized production company was dedicated to honoring the Lasky family pioneers, particularly Jesse L. Lasky, the illustrious founder of Paramount Pictures. In its re-established form, the company focused on producing short films, videos, and commercials. It also offered specialized stunt training for action actors through the Stunt Kids Association of Hollywood.
Presently, Lasky Productions continues to thrive, expanding its offerings to accommodate both large and small-scale projects. These services include location scouting, craft services, child wrangling, casting services for both union and non-union background talent, actors, stunt performers, and stand-ins. Additionally, the company provides crewing services with referrals for union and non-union crew members, ranging from production designers to production assistants, including A.D.s, D.P.s, and C.A.s. On-set stunt equipment rentals are also available, featuring crash mats, stunt pits, mini-trampolines, full-size trampolines, panel mats, and various gymnastic apparatuses. The Lasky family and the Stunt Kids Association actively participate in numerous Hollywood community events, such as the Hollywood Christmas Parade, contributing to the vibrant cultural fabric of the industry.
